What does my camper need to bring?
30.01.2012

Because the camp program offers diverse activities and events, it is important your camper come prepared.  It is also important to remember the camp is located in the Catskill Mountains at an elevation where even summer evenings can be unpredictably cool.  The following list has been comprised by experienced campers and is approved by camp leadership.

Lodging

Campers stay in rustic, unheated cabins and are assigned an army-style cot.

  • Bed Linens
  • Pillow and pillow case
  • Warm Blanket / or Sleeping Bag
  • Towels: bath and beach

Apparel, Footwear and Sleepwear

The typical camp “Period” (session) is two (2) weeks in duration and camping is a messy undertaking.  Parents of campers are encouraged to consider two (2) options:

  1. Laundry facilities are available in the nearby town of Tannersville, NY.  Laundry services are not!  Camp counselors do not wash laundry for campers.  This task falls to parents, uncles, Godparents, friends of parents, etc.; OR
  2. Equip your camper with adequate clothing to survive the full two (2) weeks away.  Do not expect much opportunity for your camper to re-use t-shirts, socks or underwear.  Again, camping takes its toll on clothing.

Many campers find it convenient to store their clothing and personal items at the foot of their army-style cot, in a typical dormitory trunk.  More traditional suitcases and/or duffel bags also work well and can be stored underneath bunks.
